Reviews: Easyacc usb 3.0 hub

This is a very handy little device. One thing the description and other two reviews didn’t mention is that it will let you use an external portable hard drive on your phone/tablet!

To do this you’ll need an external power supply (I use a 6000mAh external battery – you can also use a wall adapter). It’s a pretty simple setup; just plug this adapter into the battery, then plug in the hard drive and finally plug it into your phone/tablet. Depending on your drive formatting and device it may just work or you may need an app like Nexus Media Importer or USB OTG Helper (worked differently from device to device for me – both apps can be found on the play store).

This is a much more versatile solution than using an OTG cable that splits in two (one end to the drive, the other to the power supply) as you can also read memory cards and it has three ports. Tried it with three devices connected at once and it worked like a charm (hard drive, Logitech wireless game controller, and thumb drive). The game controller ability is another one missed in the description.

There are actually many other scenarios you can use this in – such as connecting; a DSLR Camera, keyboard, mouse, audio output, and so on. If you google it there’s a ton of things you can do with an OTG setup and the multiple ports and powered option are awesome. The micro SD and SD card readers are a nice bonus and eliminate the need to carry a separate USB card reader.

Very handy little accessory and I’d recommend it to any Android user looking to expand their device.
